In November, voters will elect the judge of probate for Oxford County. Probate court functions include the administration of estates, adoption cases, and appointing guardians for the protection of children and disabled adults.
This year, the incumbent, Judge Dana C. Hanley, is challenged by attorney Paul R. Dumas Jr. of Mexico. While both candidates are undoubtedly qualified to sit as probate judge, I will cast my vote for Dumas, and I hope others will as well.
Dumas was born to an Oxford County logging family. He graduated from Stephen’s High School in Rumford and then attended Boston University. After law school, he returned to Oxford County to practice law and raise a family with his wife, Cindy.
Two of the most important reasons to elect Dumas are his 35 years of legal experience and his firm conviction that every individual deserves to be treated fairly.
