RUMFORD – Sandra Faye Irving Carignan, 62, of Andover Road, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 20, at Rumford Hospital.
She was born in South Paris on Sept. 22, 1945, daughter of Raymond and Madeline Harding Irving.
She was the loving wife of William “Bizz” Carignan whom she married on Oct. 3, 1964.
Sandra enjoyed life to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to have fun. She loved spending time at the camp on Roxbury Pond, decorating for the Fourth of July, snowmobiling for enjoyment and also driving snowmobiles for Maine Handicapped Skiing.
Being an only child, the more people she had around her the happier she was. She loved being a Nana and followed everything they did, being their biggest fan, whether it was on a football field, wrestling mat, baseball diamond, dance recital, lacrosse field or Miss Maine pageant, she was there. All the kids knew the rules were different at Nana’s because Nana didn’t know the word “NO.” She loved going on any trip possible and believed they should go on loving Disney, cruises, Key West, Cancun, Gaspe, and Prince Edward Island. She would try anything once from riding roller coasters to Zip lining in Costa Rica.
She finally retired in July after working the past 18 years as a dental assistant to Dr. Philip Bretz.
Survivors include her husband, William “Bizz” Carignan; daughters, Michelle and Jeff Gilbert, and Patti and Mike Daigle, all of Rumford; grandchildren, Lauren and Michael Gilbert, Chris and Nikki Cayer, Michael “T3,” Seth and Hannah Daigle; and her many extended family friends.
She was predeceased by her parents.
