In his Sept. 8 column, Cal Thomas mentions “Republicans who practice politics of conciliation …”

Conciliation is what 2000 presidential candidate George W. Bush said he does very well. “I am a uniter, not a divider,” the now President Bush campaigned.

I would ask Thomas to acknowledge that and to comment on the unusual divisiveness that President Bush is part of, in our country and, more so, worldwide.
