LEWISTON – Gerard J. Soucy, 82, of 15 Janelle St., Lewiston, died Saturday, Sept. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center following a long illness.

He was born in Baker Brook, New Brunswick, on Oct. 16, 1925, the son of Hector and Edwedge (Picard) Soucy and had been a resident of this community for most of his life.

He married the former Germaine Dube on Oct. 12, 1957. She died on July 23, 1994.

He was a parishioner of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul.

He is survived by one daughter, Claudette Tremblay and her husband, Roland, of Lewiston; one daughter-in-law, Marie Mae L’Italien of Lewiston; four brothers, Gerald Soucy and his wife Cecile, Lucien Soucy, Leopold Soucy and his wife Georgette and Rino Soucy and his wife Rachel, all of Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Carmen Levasseur and her husband, Edgard, of Ontario, Canada, and Roseanne Chasse and her husband, Joel, of Connecticut; one brother-in-law, Andre Drouin of Ontario, Canada; two sisters-in-law, Louise Benoit of Ontario, Canada, and Lorraine Soucy of New Brunswick, Canada; two grandchildren, Richard and Lisa L’Italien; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Rodrigue L’Italien; two sisters, Georgette Drouin and Claudette Soucy; and two brothers, Jean and Pierre Soucy.
