NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – A 26-year old New Haven man was killed and a 25-year old Stamford man was wounded during an exchange of gunfire outside a downtown New Haven nightclub.

Police say the incident started as a fight between two groups of people just after closing time early Sunday outside the Center Street Lounge.

Police say they believe the men who fired the shots were the ones hit by the bullets. The New Haven man was shot in the stomach and died and the Stamford man was shot in the leg.

Police did not release their names. The incident was still under investigation Sunday and no arrests had been made.
