Harry “Buster” Delan wipes the dirt off of pumpkins at Pearl’s Fresh Produce in Mechanic Falls on Sunday. Delan, an 85-year-old retired welder, helps out at his daughter and son-in-law’s business. Pumpkin stand owner, Charlie Pearl, said that a lot of rain during the pollination period in late June kept bees from pollinating his pumpkin patch, reducing the number of pumpkins he has to harvest. Delan’s wife Ruth, 85, also works on the farm. The couple have been married for 66 years.
