Bryant Pond – Robert Joseph Tucci, 56, of Bryant Pond, died suddenly at his home by the lake in Bryant Pond on Friday, Sept. 19.

He was born in Waltham, Mass., on Jan. 18, 1952, the son of Ralph and Helvi (Heikkinen) Tucci, attended Massachusetts schools, graduated from Littleton High School in Littleton, Mass., class of 1970, received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Lowell in nuclear engineering and a master’s and Ph.D. in nuclear physics at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

He had been employed as a nuclear physicist at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard in Kittery for 25 years, retiring in 2008 due to ill health.

Robert loved to fish, making his own fly rods as well as tying his own flies, and loved the woods and mountains of Maine.

He was the beloved father of Katherine Rose Tucci of Waterboro; beloved brother of Sandra Pacy and her husband, Ron, of Bridgewater, Mass.; beloved uncle of Alyssa Pacy of Cambridge, Mass.; and beloved nephew of Laura Heikkinen; as well as numerous cousins and friends.
