STRONG – Hearings have been set on a proposed school consolidation that would unite 16 communities into one school system if voters approve the measure on Nov. 4.

The reorganizational planning committee proposes creations of the Western Mountains Regional School District, consisting of Avon, Chesterville, Eustis, Farmington, Industry, Kingfield, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Phillips, Strong, Temple, Weld, Wilton and Vienna, and Coplin and Highland plantations.

The hearing schedule on the consolidation plan is: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, at Highland Town House in Highland Plantation; 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30, for Coplin Plantation residents and others at Stratton School Library in Eustis; 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Kingfield School in Kingfield; and 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington.
