FARMINGTON – Dana A. Thurlow, 59, of New Vineyard, died Monday, Sept. 22, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, with his loving family at his side.
He was born June 30, 1949, in Malden, Mass., a son of Albert Tyler and Allison (Mcleod) Thurlow. He was a 1967 graduate of Melrose High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
On April 9, 1972, he married Linda June Ringland in Malden, Mass. For many years, he worked as a commercial and residential awning installer. He realized his dream by moving to New Vineyard, with his wife, where he enjoyed fishing, the quiet solitude of the Maine woods and canoeing. One of his greatest joys came from teaching some of his grandchildren how to swim and enjoy the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of New Vineyard; two sons, Marc W. Thurlow and his wife, Lisa, of Nashua, N.H., and Dana A. Thurlow and his wife, Anne Marie, of Strong; two brothers, Roger Horton and his wife, Mary, of Montgomery, Ala., and Albert T. Thurlow Jr. and his wife, Janyce, of New Vineyard; two sisters, Sandra Thurlow of Rumford and Ardell Starke of Bridgewater, Mass.; a daughter-in-law, Tracy A. Thurlow of Chesterville; and six grandchildren, Scott W., Kayla Rose, Cody Michael, Dalton Alan, Damien Alexander and Nicholas Joseph Thurlow. He was anticipating the birth of his seventh grandchild.
