LEWISTON – Gerard E. Grenier, 80, of Barker Mill Arms and formerly of 52 Third St., Auburn, died Sunday, Sept. 21, at Central Maine Medical Center, where he was admitted on Friday.

He was born in Amesbury, Mass., Dec. 2, 1927, a son of the late Emile and Claudia Jutras Grenier. He attended St. Dominic and Lewiston High schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was married to the former Rita Rose Bonenfant June 30, 1951. She died Jan. 21, 2004.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at St. Louis Church, New Auburn Senior Citizens and the New Auburn American Legion Post 153.

Prior to his retirement, he was for many years employed at Sebago Moc in Westbrook and at local shoe manufactures. After retirement, he enjoyed social activities at Barker Mill Arms and loved to play bingo.

He is survived by a daughter, Claire Louise Grenier of Boston, Mass.; a son, Michael R. Grenier of Oakland Park, Fla.; and two sisters, Severine Dickinson of Auburn and Mrs. Roland (Edith) Malo of Old Orchard Beach.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Rita Hebert, Lilliane Berube and Theresa Currier; and a brother, Francois Grenier.
