This is in response to Marsha Dawson’s letter of Sept. 16 that responded to my previous letter, printed Sept. 10.
Where did I write that I was intolerant of Barack Obama, or his father being Muslim, or that I was intolerant of anyone’s religion?
I couldn’t care less what religion a person or candidate is, as long as they are forthright about it, which Obama does not appear to be, as evidenced by his support of the Rev. Wright’s pastorship of his church for 20 years, and then backpeddling away from it when it revealed a flaw in his character in front of the nation’s voters.
By the way, my late wife was Japanese and a Buddhist, so if I were intolerant of anyone’s religion, she and I would not have enjoyed our 51 years of marriage.
What does bother me, as I pointed out in my letter, is the continued improper application by the majority of politicians and journalists in spoken and printed media, of the word “immigrant” when referring to illegal aliens, which has gone on for so long the illegals now believe they are immigrants, entitled to everything the legal immigrant is, despite their being in violation of federal law to be here.
If my viewing of it in that light makes me an intolerant bigot, so be it.
