ANDOVER – Selectmen finalized the 2008 tax commitment in a meeting on Sept. 22.

Property owners should begin receiving bills in the mail shortly, with payment due by Oct. 31. After that date, daily interest will accrue at 8 percent.

In 2008, the total appropriation in Andover was $1,157,716. Total municipal appropriations added up to $660,438, with $679,693 to be raised in taxation.

The 2008 tax rate is .0102, and the 2007 tax rate was .0125.

Through the commitment preparation, selectmen set a process to assist in data collection throughout the year.

The 2007 audit year-end adjustments have also been completed and the board will be reviewing all accounts to ensure that they are on target to stay within the budget as the end of the year approaches.
