LEWISTON – Pansy “Pat” Crossley, 95, a resident of Summit Springs Road, Poland, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a short illness with her family by her side.

She was affectionately known as “Pat.” She was born on Sept. 8, 1913, in Watertown, Mass., the daughter of Garfield D. and Eliza A. (Van Ivestine) Alger.

She moved to Maine in her early 20s, where she met her husband of 46 years, the late Elmer W. Crossley. Together they owned and operated the Elm Hotel in downtown Auburn from the mid-1930s until 1960.

They made their home and raised their family in Poland Spring. In their retirement, they enjoyed spending winters in Florida, where they loved walking on the beach and ballroom dancing. She loved her family, her home and the many dogs she had over the years, most recently, “Dude.” She also enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens, cooking for her family and many different handicrafts.

Survivors include one son, Elmer N. Crossley and his partner, Nikki Patterson, of Windham; one daughter, Darlene A. Craw and her partner, Charles Roya, of Milpitas, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Carole Berg and her husband, Erwin, of Auburn; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Riley and her husband, Chris, of Newburyport, Mass., Leah Sharples and her husband, Kurt, of Bowdoinham, Andrea Noyes and her husband, Marty, of New Gloucester and Holly Bernier and her husband, Don, of Raymond; five stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer on Sept. 27, 1987; four brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, Rick Craw.
