PORTLAND (AP) – A Kennebunk man faces a lengthy sentence after pleading guilty to seven bank robberies in Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.

Federal prosecutors say 42-year-old Patrick Richelieu stole approximately $105,000 from six banks in November and December of 2006, while another bank robbery was thwarted by a customer.

He was arrested by a Connecticut State Police on Dec. 6, 2007, as he came out of a savings bank in Griswold, Conn., with bag containing $11,081 he had just stolen.

Richelieu pleaded guilty on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to seven bank robbery and bank robbery using a dangerous weapon charges.

He faces up to 20 years in prison for each of the bank robbery charges and up to 25 years in prison for each bank robbery with a dangerous weapon charges.
