My greatest concerns in the presidential election are the war in Iraq and the troubled U.S. economy. I cannot justify the enormous cost in lives and dollars of a war that only benefits big oil. I can’t understand why the rich should receive tax breaks when even by increasing their taxes they will still be rich, while I struggle to match my fixed income to the rising costs of living.
Barack Obama shows a commitment to solving these problems.
I do not feel hopeful about his opponent, who has voted consistently with the failed policies of the Bush administration. The solutions proposed by John McCain offer no relief for middle- and low-income families, and little promise of expediting the return home of the nation’s troops. I also question the judgment of someone who would choose a running mate who has insufficient credentials for the highest office of the country.
