ORONO (AP) – Six former University of Maine athletes will be inducted next month into the school’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Those honored during the homecoming weekend that begins Oct. 25 include former ice hockey standout David Capuano, who graduated in 1990, and track and field star Viktoriya Rybalko, who graduated in 2003 and represented her native Ukraine in last month’s Beijing Olympics.
Other inductees include baseball player Russ Quetti, a 1978 graduate; football and baseball player Norm Tardif, a 1967 graduate; track and field standout Dereck Treadwell, a 1998 graduate; and Rome Rankin, who was athletic director for 15 years.
