BYRON – At Friday night’s special board meeting, Selectmen Corey Freeman and Mike Gallant scheduled public hearing and special town meeting dates regarding proposed changes to an ordinance banning commercial campground development and expansion.
Special town meeting voters will also get to elect a third selectman to fill an empty seat on the board.
The hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, and the special town meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. Both will be held in the Byron schoolhouse off Route 17 at Coos Canyon.
Gallant said a petition seeking the hearing was delivered to the town office Wednesday with one signature more than the required 11 to make it official.
“The petition allows us to have a public hearing and special town meeting on those dates, legally,” Gallant said.
