Barack Obama has no major piece of legislation to his name, nor any significant mark on policy. Appointed chairman of the subcommittee on European affairs (a subcommittee that is responsible for oversight of our involvement in NATO and in Afghanistan), he never held hearings. When Congress and the president took up legislation to address the nation’s financial crisis, he didn’t want to go back to Washington and said, “Call me if you need me.”
I have not always agreed with John McCain, but I respect his ability to lead. On numerous occasions, he worked with Republicans and Democrats to come up with solutions addressing the major issues of the day. He’s not afraid to buck his own party, and he’s definitely not afraid to put his name on the line.
That’s why John McCain has my vote.
