Seniors to meet

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors will meet at the Community Center on Wednesday Oct. 1.

There will be a board of directors meeting at 10 a.m and regular meeting at 11.

Meal tickets will be on sale for the Halloween luncheon, Oct. 15, cost $4.

There will be the monthly raffle table and the program will be bingo.

Prize winners at the Sept. 17 meeting were Irene Fraser, Clarence Holbrook, Cecile Wyman, Ralph Lashua and Virginia Trafford. President Pat Records presided at the meeting and 62 members were in attendance.

Freshman Night

LISBON FALLS – Lisbon High School will host Freshman Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, in the high school library.

Freshman Night provides parents and students an opportunity to learn about academic planning, including the importance of building a solid four-year plan that is tailored to student interests and current career goals.

In addition, the program will review strategies and techniques to improve academic skills and communication between parent, school and child to assist in high school and post-secondary success.

The guidance office encourages participation from both parents and students.

Talk canceled

NEW GLOUCESTER – A talk on cooking by Shaker Sr. Frances Carr, set for 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village library, has been canceled.

A new date will be set later.

Scout registration

GREENE – Girl Scouts of Maine will hold a parent information and registration meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Greene Central School. Those attending will learn about Girl Scout activities taking place in the community.

Girl Scouts of Maine serves more than 14,000 girls ages 5 to 17 statewide. The registration fee to become a member of Girl Scouts is $10, payable by check.

Financial assistance is available.

Girl Scouts of Maine also has many volunteer options for adults.
