DIXFIELD – John Aubrey Sylvester, 58, of Route 108, in Rumford, died Sunday, Sept. 28, at his daughter Julie Steward’s home, on Meadowbrook Terrace, Dixfield.
He was born in Rumford on Dec. 24, 1949, a son of Walter and Beverly (Townsend) Sylvester. He graduated from Telstar Regional High School in Bethel, and had attended Central Maine Community College.
He worked as a millwright for many years for New Page Paper Mill in Rumford.
He was a member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, member United Steelworkers, member of the United Bikers of Maine, Member of Rumford Falls Aerie 1248, F.O.E. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially riding his Harleys, fishing and cooking.
Survivors include daughters, Julie Steward and husband, Roy, of Dixfield, Tina Aston and husband, Thad, of Auburn; sisters, Frances Ball and husband, Gene, of Circleville, Kansas, Ruth Berry of Rhode Island, Theresa Bouchard and husband, Robert, of Mexico, Barbara Sylvester of Hartford, Mary Thompson, Margaret Squire and husband, David, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brothers, Walter Sylvester Jr. of Andover, Robert Sylvester and wife, Sharon, of Warwick, R.I., Michael Sylvester of Massachusetts; grandchildren, Zachery Giberson of Rumford, and Roman Curran of Bowdoinham; his mother, Beverly Sylvester of Andover; many nieces and nephews; his companion, Cecile Comeau of Rumford.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter Sylvester; daughter, Ariana Sylvester; granddaughter, Tia Bouchard.
