Norway – Pauline B. Kennison, of 1560 Main St., Oxford, left this world on Sept. 24, to be with the Lord while resting peacefully at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bethel on Feb. 26, 1920, to Alphonso and Marjorie (Verrill) Brown of Bryant Pond. In 1939, she married Gerald Kennison of West Paris and they had six children.

She owned and operated Kennison Real Estate in Oxford. She was a pioneer in the real estate business. In 1965, as a single parent, while working a full-time job and raising her family, she obtained her real estate license and started Pauline B. Kennison Real Estate on Thompson Lake in Otisfield. From there she built Kennison Real Estate, which is still operating today, by her son Tom. She sold and resold thousands of homes throughout her career.

She was so appreciative of the friendships that she formed during her career. Her honest work ethic and genuine love of people made her one of Oxford Hills “favorite” realtors.

In 2005, she was presented the Prestigious Lifetime Achievement award by the National Association of Realtors for her 43 years of service as a realtor in the Western Maine board of realtors, the Maine Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. She was a faithful member of the Oxford Seventh Day Adventist Church whose congregation she considered to be her extended family. She served as past president, secretary and treasurer of the Lake Thompson senior citizens organization. She was also a corporator of Mechanic Savings Bank for many years.

She was a loving and caring mother with a generous heart, the love of her life were her children and their families and all the times they spent together.

She had a passion for cooking and could always be found in her kitchen preparing something wonderful for those she loved or anyone in need of a meal.

She collected poetry and could always be counted on to quote an inspirational verse at the most appropriate times.

She loved spending time entertaining family and friends at her log cabin on Whitney Pond in Oxford.

She is survived by her loving family and countless friends which include her children, Gayle Salyer of Norlina, N.C., Jeannie Edwards and husband, Don, of Norlina, N.C., Joy Mefford and husband, Leon, of South Paris, Jerry Kennison and wife, Deana, of Spring Hope, N.C., Tom Kennison of Oxford and Paula Giguere and husband, Dan, of Rome; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also had five brothers and sisters, Daniel Brown and wife Isabelle, Shirley Washburn, Beatrice Harlow, Donald Brown and wife Naomi, and Charlotte Jacobson; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Medd and Dr. Barbara Seaborg and the entire staff at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center for the exceptional care given. Also to the Rev. Richard Wright for his many visits, prayers and kind words of encouragement given during her illness. Pauline will be missed by all who knew her and will remain forever in our hearts.
