Although Hurricane Kyle spared Mainers hurricane-force winds, the storm’s influence dumped plenty of rain across the state over the course of the past two days.
One of the hardest hit areas in Androscoggin County, Durham, reported more than four inches of rainfall as of Sunday. The rains led to the closure of Route 136 near the town line between Auburn and Durham after more of the road eroded into the Androscoggin River over the weekend. The road was initially closed last week, but reopened briefly only to end up closed until further notice by Saturday.
Traffic is being diverted to Stackpole Road to Pownal Road to Jordan School Road.
Across the state, areas reported anywhere from one inch of rain to more than six inches of rain in Phippsburg.
