I write in response to Thomas F. Shields’ letter, printed Sept. 19.

I always enjoy reading “Letters to the editor,” as it gives me cause to pause and reflect. It has, from time to time, made me aware that I am biased regarding issues that I have strong feelings about.

My concern for Shields is his unending bias for the Republican party. I sense that he was born a Republican and will be a Republican in his next life. I don’t make that statement to belittle him. Much to the contrary, I applaud his loyalty and dedication.

But I would prefer that Shields spend his time talking about the Republican candidates and their respective plans for all Americans – to build a safe, strong and prosperous future for all Americans.

Shields is concerned about “Mainstream media bias.” I would suggest that he should use his own bias (for the Republican candidates and platform) to win votes rather than question the quality of candidates supported by the Democrats.

As an American, my vote on Nov. 4 will be based on the plans and platform that I feel will benefit the majority of Americans.
