Sen. Susan Collins says she’s an independent-thinking moderate, even though she voted for President Bush’s tax cuts for the super-rich, supported the Bush-Cheney bill giving $14 billion in tax breaks to the oil and gas industry, and voted for incentives for sending American jobs overseas. She continues to support Bush’s economic policies. Everyone can see in the headlines each day just where those policies have got us.
Rep. Tom Allen, on the other hand, has spent his time in Washington advocating tax cuts for the middle class, help on home heating oil, support for college tuition, and creating jobs in Maine. As a senior member of the House Budget Committee, he supported balancing the budget within five years, while providing for homeland security, education for the future, and children’s health care.
Look at what Susan Collins does, not what she says.
Then vote for Tom Allen.
