AUBURN – Fernand A. Pelletier, 87, of River Street, Lewiston died Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Androscoggin Home and Hospice House.

He was born in New Bedford, Mass., on Feb. 21, 1921, the son of Louis and Eva (Berube) Pelletier. He attended schools in Lewiston and later served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Sept. 25, 1948, he married Simonne Lebrun at St. Mary’s Church.

He worked as a barber for many years at his father’s barber shop, Pelletier’s Barber Shop, and also worked at Hill Mill and Bates Manufacturing Co.

He was a longtime member of the former St. Mary’s Church and was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Fern was an avid fisherman and hunter and always loved to tell stories about his experiences.

He is survived by his wife, Simonne, with whom they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary; his daughter Lillian Sammon and her husband, Jan, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his son, Paul Pelletier of Lewiston; his four grandchildren, Mark Sammon of Florida, Greg Sammon of North Carolina, Tammy Fecteau of Monmouth and Jesse Pelletier of Lewiston; and four great-grandchildren, Josh, Jonathan, Alexis and Zachary.

He was predeceased by his one brother; and his two sisters.
