JAY – Alexi Deering blasted a shot from the corner to net the game-winning goal with 38 seconds left in double overtime to lift the Jay/Livermore Falls soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Carrabec on Wednesday.
Deering scored the first goal of the contest for the Wildcats (3-2-3), converting a pass from Lindsay Jacques. Carrabec (4-6) answered back in the second half when Melissa White crossed a pass to Myranda Knight, who one-timed it in. The two teams battled through a physical first overtime period, before Deering ended the game with her rocket.
Both keepers had solid performances. Katie Beaulieu made 14 saves to earn the win, while Marissa Murray stopped 12 shots for Carrabec.
Lisbon 0, Georges Valley 0
THOMASTON – The Lisbon and Geoges Valley girls’ squads scrambled up and down the field Wednesday, only to come away with a 0-0 deadlock after two overtime periods.
In this battle of defensive prowess, Sam Purcell made five saves in net for the Greyhounds (7-1-1), while Emily Cox turned aside four shots between the posts for Georges Valley (8-0-1).
Madison 4, Monmouth 1
MADISON – Natalie Michaud led all players with three consecutive goals as Madison posted a 4-1 win over Monmouth in girls’ soccer action.
Terri Hayden rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs (2-3-1), who were strong offensively by outshooting the Mustangs (0-7) 29-9 in the contest.
The lone Monmouth goal was tallied by Brittany Wymouth, who tapped in the ball after a feed from Nicole Coward.
St. Dom’s 3, Traip 0
KITTERY – Eliza Dox and Mary Lewis each scored off successful breakaways, while Colleen Rideout tallied a goal with help from the pair, to lead St. Dom’s to a 3-0 victory over Traip in a WMC field hockey contest Wednesday.
Lewis also recorded an assist on the Dox goal, while Julia Richardson was credited with an assit on Lewis’ goal. Kelsey Murphy blocked eight shots to earn the shutout.
Fryeburg 1, G-NG 1
GRAY – Despite two hard-fought overtimes, Fryeburg and Gray-New Gloucester were forced to play to a 1-1 tie in a field hockey game.
The Patriots (0-7-2) got on the board first in the first half with an unassisted goal by Laura Hagelin. The Raiders tied it with just a minute left in the game when Sage Hennessey scored, unassited.
