I think it’s a crying shame to see elected politicians from both parties constantly bickering and voting down each other’s bills. What a waste of time and money to accomplish practically nothing. And I’m talking about both state and national politicians.
Then there are the pork barrel items added to some bills.
I’m sick and tired of the blame game from both sides.
I wish all the representatives and senators were all independent of any party. And I would like to see a two-thirds vote of each house to pass any bill, with the president retaining his veto power. And no more adding pork.
If state officials need funding, they write a bill to request it and Congress votes on it.
Do away completely with lobbying. Companies could submit their requests or arguments in letter form to each member of Congress, with no bribes allowed. Set days each month with a time limit for a hearing for those companies to plead their case.
The president should be independent, and each person running for that office would be allowed to spend a set amount on the campaign; whatever Congress allows.
It would be easier to get bills passed. Government would be more for the people and by the people. There would be improvements in everyone’s life, and for generations to come.
