La Survivance
LEWISTON – Members of La Survivance Franaise will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at the Multi-Purpose Center.
Following the installation of officers for 2008-2010, the members will be invited to sing French songs accompanied on the accordion by Lorraine Ouellette and Irne Coady. Refreshments will also be provided. Thérse Deschne will serve as hostess.
President Aliette Couturier encourages all members to attend. New members are always welcome.
Bickford reunion
POLAND – Descendants of William Bickford, a Revolutionary soldier born in Maine, met for their 20th annual reunion at the Excelsior Grange on Sept. 21. A potluck meal was held at noon, followed by a business meeting conducted by President Jane Footer Cole.
Reports were given by Secretary Marcel Mathieu and Treasurer Julie Footer. After the business meeting, an auction was held to defray expenses of the reunion.
The 21st annual reunion will be held at the same place in September 2009. Those who usually receive a notice of the reunion and did not this year should call Julie Footer at 784-0734 or Jayne Bickford at 353-2429 to make sure the correct address is on file.
Seniors meeting
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in the Multi-Purpose Center gym. Besides the regular attendance drawings, Pot O’ Gold and monthly updates, they will hear from speaker Jan Patterson, Lewiston project engineer. She will talk about the grant for Hart Brook Watershed projects, including rain off gardens and rain barrels.
Anyone interested in helping to design and decorate the motifs for the rain barrels should attend or contact the Lewiston Senior Citizens, Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St., Lewiston, or call 784-2926, ext. 207.
Notes birthday
LEWISTON – Marshwood Center of Lewiston recently hosted a surprise birthday party for Carroll Huston, 84, a Lisbon Falls native and resident of Marshwood.
Huston celebrated the day with 25 family members, who planned the party. Huston’s birthday is Sept. 11.
VFW supper
AUBURN – VFW Post 1603 will hold its 80th anniversary supper and honor past commanders and long-time members from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at 588 Minot Ave. Music will be provided by Cheryl.
