RANGELEY – Two Rangeley men have been charged in connection with $1,825 in damage done to the Mingo Springs Golf Course last month. A car was driven over five holes on the course, tearing up the greens, police said.

Sean Welton, 30, of Rangeley and Matthew Kennedy, 36, were issued summonses Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and trespass by motor vehicle, police officer Jared Austin said Thursday.

After leaving Sarg’s Sports Pub & Grub on Main Street on Friday, Sept. 19, they decided to drive over the golf course, causing damage to the greens, Austin said.

Welton was the driver of the car, he said.

The two are scheduled to appear Nov. 20 at 12th District Court in Farmington.
