AUBURN – City officials have decided to allow in-person absentee voting Monday, Nov. 3, the day before Election Day. The city had previously stated it would not allow it, citing concerns about being able to properly prepare for Election Day.

“Thankfully some other staff have stepped up to the plate to be able to assist us that day,” said Mary Lou Magno, Auburn’s city clerk. “We’ll do some training with that staff and that will free the clerk’s office up to do what we need to do to get ready for (Election Day).”

Magno said people liked the convenience of voting prior to Election Day.

“We have a minimum of 20 people a day right now voting,” she said. “Some people have made up their mind, some people have not, but it’s all out of convenience.”
