TURNER – The search continued Thursday for a Turner man who vanished with a company van at the start of the week.
Police said Jimmy D. Lessard, 25, of Lessard Drive, was last seen Monday night at a home in Hartford. Since then, investigators from the Androsocoggin County Sheriff’s Department say the trail has gone cold.
“It is very out of character for him to just take off,” Detective William Gagne said. “It’s really unusual for him not to contact his friends or his family to let them know where he is. At this point, we’re very concerned about his well-being.”
Police said Lessard had been depressed recently over the death of his mother and over a break-up with a girlfriend.
On Monday, it was believed he put fuel in the company van, owned by his father, and drove off. Some tips have suggested he may be headed to Canada, although police said they have not verified that.
Anyone with information about Lessard’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at (207) 784-7361 or 1-800-492-0737, ext. 0.
Lessard is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 240 pounds, with short dark hair and glasses. The van he was driving is a white Chevrolet with a pair of white roof racks and a registration plate bearing the number 5248NY.
