I wish to point out some omissions in Jonathan LaBonte’s piece “Does Maine’s college system make sense?” (Sept. 28).
LaBonte mentions Andover College and Central Maine Community College. With respect to these institutions, and to Mr. LaBonte, he did not mention Bates College or the University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn College.
Later, I read of a woman seeking her master’s degree in business administration. She wouldn’t need to leave Lewiston: USM-LAC offers a master’s degree in leadership – studies that might meet her needs. Some of the courses are even offered partially or completely online.
In the name of full disclosure, I admit that I work for USM-LAC. I wanted to address these omissions regardless of the omitted school.
Indeed, let us discuss higher education opportunities in Lewiston-Auburn. Let’s discuss all of the opportunities.
