NORWAY – S. Paul Bartlett, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of the Gore Road, Locke Mills, Greenwood.

He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 1, 1934, the son of Sidney and Helena (Vetquosky) Bartlett.

Paul attended elementary school in Locke Mills and graduated third in his class from Gould Academy in Bethel, Class of 1953. He excelled in football and baseball.

He attended the University of Maine for two years before joining the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in Wrightstown, N.J. He was also stationed at Morocco, Africa and Wiesbaden, Germany. While in the Air Force he received Airman of the Month and won the Freedom Foundation Award.

He excelled in literature and writing to win the award. In 1959, he left the Air Force returning to Locke Mills and worked at EKCO houseware plant until his retirement.

He was a member of the Jefferson Lodge # 100, AF & AM, Bryant Pond, Maine. He loved his log cabin on his island on North Pond, and especially enjoyed fishing.

He was married in Locke Mills, on Dec. 31, 1976 to the former Marie J. Onorati, who survives of Locke Mills, Greenwood.

Other survivors include a brother, Eldon Bartlett of Scarborough; a sister, Sally Bartlett of Poland; a sister-in-law, Kathy Bartlett of Bethel; a brother-in-law, Roger Onorati of Newton, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Polly Jordan of Locke Mills; and other family members include, Ernest Brown, Jr. of Auburn, Robyn Cary and husband, Tom, of Oxford, Roberta Zinchuck and husband, Jim, of Oxford, Heidi Tracy and husband, Daniel, of South Paris, Leonard Lovejoy and wife, Mary, of South Paris.

He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Bartlett.
