AUGUSTA – Gertrude L. Albert, 87, of Riverside Dr., died Thursday, Oct. 3, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center with her family at her side. She had been a patient there since April.

She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Chisholm, the daughter of Josephat and Lucia (Lessard) Poulin. She attended grade school in Chisholm leaving early to help out her family.

She was employed for 25 years at Bates Manufacturing Co. in the 1900s until its closing. After completion of training in 1968, she became a psychiatric aid at Augusta Mental Health Institute for 15 years where she performed her duties with loving care and devotion.

After retiring she had time to cook which she enjoyed, making pies, cookies, bread, biscuits and trying out new recipes. She enjoyed sewing, making quilts and doing clothing alterations for her friends and family.

She looked forward to talking to of her best friends on the phone, Gertrude Giroux and Theresa Cummings, talking about old times.

She is survived by a son, Paul Albert and his wife, Juliette, of Randolph; a daughter, Claudette Albert of Augusta; seven grandchildren, nine great-grand children and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters, Isabelle Marston of Florida, Pauline Duguay of Livermore Falls, Rita Chicoine of Livermore Falls, Geraldine Richards of Jay, Florence Couture of Jay, Louise Bryant of Livermore Falls, Doris Pare of Wilton, Jeanne Hebert of Jay and Gloria Norton of Farmington Falls; brothers, Norman Poulin of Florida, Norman Pare of Florida, Lawrence Pare of Livermore and Joey Poulin of Livermore Falls.

She was predeceased by her sister, Claudette Deacon; and brother, Paul Pare.
