Auburn – Gilman “Frenchy” Sirois, 82, of Roxbury Pond, died Sunday Oct. 5, at the Hospice House with family by his side.

He was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Lille, a son of Eddie and Josephine Sirois. He worked at the Rumford paper mill for 42 years.

Gilman was a Marine in World War II, and received a Purple Heart.

He was a loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gloria (Marquis) Sirois of Roxbury Pond; two sons, Lawrence “Larry” Sirois and wife, Jeannine, of Burns, Wyo., and Daniel S. and wife, Romala, of Rumford; two daughters, Linda Whitmore of Lewiston and Cathy Lemay and husband, Bob, of Lewiston; three sisters, Sister Gertrude Turk of Connecticut, Jackie Bosse and husband, Lawrence, of Connecticut and Priscille Fournier of Lewiston; three brothers, Ralph Sirois of Rumford, Donald Sirois of Madawaska and Fern Sirois of Waterville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Adrien.
