SKOWHEGAN – Samuel “Sam” W. Jackson, 57, of Farmington, died unexpectedly Friday at Redington Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan.

He was born Dec. 3, 1950, in Louisiana, a son of Samuel T. Jackson and Mae Steward and received his education in Louisiana schools. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in forestry.

On Nov. 20, 1999, he married Carol Munson Taylor in Wilton. He was a self-employed forester, currently working with Plum Creek. He was a member of the Farmington Baptist Church. His passions were involvement with the mobile Baptist builders, focused on building churches to spread God’s word, working with his sawmill, gardening and being in the woods.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Farmington; son, Craig of Louisianna; daughters, Kelli of North Carolina, Kimberly of Louisianna and Carrie Bredeau and her husband, Ward, of Phillips; a sister, Ruth Mattingly and her husband, Larry, of Arkansas; and seven grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his father.
