Dog classes

AUBURN – Great Falls Dog Obedience Club is starting a new six-week class starting Wednesday, Oct. 8, in Auburn. Beginner’s class will be at 6:30 p.m. and advanced class at 7:30. To register and for more information, call the club’s trainer, Diane Harrington, at 784-7578.

WLU program

AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St. The program, “Book Ends,” will be presented by Barbara Randall, Mary Ann Norcross and Amey Feeley.

Hospitality will be provided by Marguerite Powers and Mildred Bickford. House decorations are provided by Tonie Ramsey. Refreshments will be served and guests are welcome.

Legislative Night

AUBURN – Legislative Night will be observed when Danville Junction Grange meets on Thursday, Oct. 9, for 6 p.m. dessert. Several legislative candidates will be in attendance. The business meeting will start at 7. All members and guests are welcome.

UCT meeting

AUBURN – Twin City Council, United Commercial Travelers of America, will hold a dinner meeting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Lewiston Chick-a-Dee Restaurant. Reservations must be made by calling Senior Counselor Doug Larrabee at 345-9533.

Square dancing

PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will feature Lee Kennedy calling mainstream and plus for the square dancing, with Bernie Porter cueing easy and intermediate round dancing from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Oxford Hills Middle School, South Paris. Refreshments will be offered at intermission. Admission is $6 a person. Non dancers are invited to watch at no charge.

DAR open house

LISBON FALLS – Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will hold open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at the home of Jayne Bickford, 394 Main St. There will be short videos shown describing the work of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Handouts and refreshments will also be available. Someone will be on hand to assist those who would like to join the organization.

Legion to meet

AUBURN – American Legion Post 31 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at 426 Washington Street North. The Veteran’s Day program will be planned. The Auxiliary will also meet at 7 p.m.
