AUBURN – Cecile D’Amour of Auburn died Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Hospice House.
She was born Sept. 22, 1919, in Lewiston, the daughter of John and Stella Liarakos. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1938.
After the war, she married Joseph D’Amour and they moved to Minot, where she worked for many years on their farm. She loved to cook and enjoyed wonderful gatherings at the farm with family and friends. Her spaghetti sauce was always a delight.
She was active in the Minot school affairs and derived great pleasure from her time as a Cub Scout leader. She was an active and lifelong member of the Greek Church and enjoyed working on the annual Greek Festival.
She was a member of the Woman’s Literary Union and a corporator of the Auburn Public Library.
She is survived by a son, John “Rusty” D’Amour and his wife, Judy, of Minot; a grandson, Seth D’Amour of Gorham; a granddaughter, Leah D’Amour of Kennebunk; sisters, Tonie Ramsey of Auburn, Bessie Hildreth and husband, Anthony, of Auburn, Anna LaRocca of Auburn and Joanne Liaros and husband, Harry, of Williamsville, N.Y.; brothers, Steve Liarakos and wife, Beverly, of Round Rock, Texas, and Charles Liarakos and wife, Helen, of Clarence, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
