LEWISTON – The Central Maine Medical Center Rotating Art Gallery is featuring Sandra Lee Huston of Lisbon Falls and Diane Jones of Old Orchard Beach as the October artists of the month.
Huston has been painting commissioned pastel pet portraits professionally since 1990 and has recently added commissioned portraits of children and their pets in charcoal.
For the last 10 years she has focused more of her creative energies on her scenes of New England photography and in 2006 published her first book, “Loons of Tacoma Lakes,” celebrating the love of loons. Huston’s photography is available as prints, wall plaques or matted and framed under glass. She also markets her photographs as greeting cards, bookmarkers and magnets on her Web site and to gift shops in Maine.
The artist divides her work week as an administrative assistant for Spiller’s credit/collection department with marketing her book and expressing herself artistically through her photography.
She especially enjoys capturing wildlife through her lens while kayaking the Tacoma Lakes on the weekends and displaying her photographs.
Huston is a member of the Equine Art Guild, Canine Art Guild and Pastel Painters of Maine. She was also accepted as a lifetime member of the Manchester Who’s Who New York Registry “Honors Edition” in 2007 as an accomplished artist and published author. For more information, visit her Web site at www.animalsinpastels.com.
Jones is a mixed media artist specializing in painting and photography. Her photo of Portland Head Light was used as a backdrop for the Ellen Degeneres Show in January 2007.
Another photo has been featured on the official Web site for the state foliage report. A resident of Old Orchard Beach, her photos focus primarily on nature scenes, especially the ocean.
Jones is a clinical dietitian at Central Maine Medical Center and Maine Medical Center.
The Rotating Art Gallery is sponsored by the Woman’s Hospital Association as a fundraiser. For more information about the association, call the hospital gift shop at 795-2295. To learn more about the monthly art exhibits, call Kathleen Cormier at 346-3462.
