GREENE – Film artist Rudy Thurau will present his film, “My California Adventure,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, and 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Araxine Wilkins-Sawyer Memorial, 3711 Sawyer Road.
Thurau, born in Bremerhaven, Germany, after completing his education in 1956, pedaled his bicycle 6,000 miles from Germany to India. His appetite for adventure whetted, he traveled 1,500 miles across the Sahara Desert by motor scooter, then took a wild raft trip down Africa’s Niger River before coming to the United States.
His film adventuring continued and he tackled the Amazon River on a seven-month raft voyage. Then he sailed across America in his hot air balloon.
Thurau is best known to travel film audiences for his light and humorous narration. He makes his home in southern California
His California adventure will include Hollywood, the beaches, skiing, the mountains, national parks and the islands.
