LEWISTON – Louise M. Fortin, 90, a resident of Rocky Road in Jay, died Monday, Oct. 6, at Montello Manor after a short illness.

She was born in Worcester, Mass., on May 16, 1918, the daughter of Matheus C. and Hazel M. (Conklin) Bradley. She married Emile J. Fortin of Canton, who passed away in 1977.

She worked at the tannery in Canton and at the shoe shop in North Jay for many years. She loved children, animals and especially her Yorkshire terrier “Prince Tiny.” Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting and tatting. She also enjoyed going to county fairs.

She is survived by two brothers, Tom Calnan and Clarence Zuidema of Whitinsville, Mass.; a sister, Shirley Kmiotek of Northbridge, Mass.; an aunt, Natalie Houghaling of New York; sisters-in-law, Tareca Calnan of Rockport and Mary Calnan of Sutton, Mass.

She was predeceased by a brother, William J. Calnan.

She will be greatly missed by her dear friends Keith and Loretta Hatch of Jay and their five children, Wayne Gleason of Lewiston, Amy Hatch of Lewiston, Alice Hatch of Jay, Christina Savage of Jay and Keith Hatch Jr. of Jay.
