JAY – Police are investigating a break-in at Paris Farmer’s Union on Main Street where two kerosene heaters valued at nearly $2,400 total were stolen late Tuesday or early Wednesday, police said.

The burglary was reported Wednesday morning, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.

“The suspects appeared to have gained entry into the building by prying open an office window,” White said. “Office equipment was damaged during the burglary and two K-1 monitor heaters were stolen.”

The office equipment was damaged while the suspects were rummaging and prying open things to look for money, he added.

A Monitor Heater Model No. 2200 with a value of $1,499 was stolen as well as a Toyotomi L-30 heater with a value of $899, White said.

The suspects used a Farmer’s Union hand dolly to wheel the heaters out of the building and into a vehicle, White said.

Detective Drew Hufnagel and officer Steve Wilkinson are investigating the burglary.

Police are asking that people with any information that could assist with the investigation call them, White said. The number is 897-6766.
