FARMINGTON – Selectmen will review the warrant for a special town meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the town office.

Planned for Oct. 28, the meeting has three articles on the warrant, Town Manager Richard Davis said.

Voters will be asked to approve an easement for KNK Properties, LLC, crossing the town parking lot at Exchange and Pleasant streets. As owners of the old Masonic building on Main Street, KNK Properties needs a larger water line to the building for a sprinkler system, he said.

A couple of legal opinions noted this was an issue that needed a town meeting vote, he added.

The second article would authorize selectmen to deed a small lot near Temple Stream in West Farmington to Kevin and Judy Vining in exchange for a lot they are giving the town for the new pump station.

A third item, he said, would amend the town’s sign ordinance by prohibiting campaign and election signs on the traffic island where High Street meets Farmington Falls Road.

Posting signs is already prohibited at the foot of the hill where the Falls Road meets Main Street and also at the traffic island in West Farmington where the town’s community sign is located.

While election signs can be considered unsightly, they can also block the view of traffic, he added.

Also on the board’s agenda is a public hearing about property at the intersection of Routes 2 and 156 in Farmington Falls that is in violation of nuisance or junkyard laws.

A fire destroyed a trailer on the property owned by Randy Brown, Davis said. The trailer has been removed but other items were left on the property.

If the items are removed over the weekend, the board will pass over this item, he said.

The board will also review a revised agreement with E.L. Vining and Son Inc. regarding the installation of the West Farmington pump station. A project that began more than a year ago has been stalled while deeds and easements have been secured. Meanwhile, the cost for the project has gone up, requiring the board’s approval of the revised agreement, he said.
