FARMINGTON – Alice S. Ireland, 76, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 11, at Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Living Center in Farmington.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1932, in Wilton, the daughter of William J. and Lela B. Scott. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1950.

On Oct. 10, 1952, she married Earl L. Ireland in Dover Foxcroft. She and Earl made their home on Clearwater Lake since 1953, raising their two sons and Alice’s younger sisters, Muriel and Lynda, and was also involved in several local community organizations.

Besides being a homemaker, Alice worked for the SAD 9 school lunch program for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Her greatest passion besides her family was making quilts and gifting them to others.

She is survived by two sons, Lee and his wife, Jeana, and John and his wife, Lori, all of Industry; two brothers, Francis Scott of Readfield, and Norman Scott of Greene; three sisters, Glenna MacMartin of Wolfeboro, N.H., Muriel Powers of Industry, and Lynda McGuire of Oakland; four grandsons, Joshua, Dustin, Ashton and Randon; three step granddaughters; one great-grandson, Ethan; many nieces and nephews; and a very special niece, Kate.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1993; and siblings, Myrle, Lawrence and Mona.
