LEWISTON – Edna E. Larrabee, 88, of Main Street, Monmouth, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 12, at St. Mary’s Regional Hospital in Lewiston with her family by her side.

She was born on Dec. 18, 1919, in Leeds, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Ridley) McDonald. Edna attended school in Leeds.

On Oct. 15, 1938, in Gardiner, she married Cecil Merton Larrabee. He passed away Nov. 14, 1996. Edna worked cleaning homes, picking apples at Chicks Orchard in Monmouth, at Rog Mog Moccasin in Monmouth, and later retired at age 62 from Supreme Slipper in Lewiston.

She loved her home and the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Edna enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, including making and selling homemade butter, and going to the fairs, especially the Litchfield Fair. She also loved to go shopping with her daughter.

She is survived by her son, Maynard L. Larrabee of Auburn; two daughters, Nancy C. Besson and her significant other, Paul, of Litchfield, and Cheryl A. Strickland and her husband, John, of Monmouth; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Marion Briggs of Auburn; and half-sister, Betty Morin of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by a son, Edward Larrabee in 1945; six brothers; and three sisters.
