LEWISTON – Margaret (Kachmar) Goulart, 86, formerly of the Sarah Frye Home for many years, died peacefully at Genesis Heath Care where she resided for the past several years.
She was born in Madison on Oct. 17, 1921, a daughter of John and Mary Kachmar.
After high school graduation in Madison, she attended St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, Mass., and graduated in 1943. She worked there at the hospital then returned to Maine. She then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as head nurse for many years and she loved her profession. She also did private duty nursing prior to her retirement.
Margaret was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and a member of the Rosary Sodality.
She loved traveling and on many occasions traveled to California and Hawaii to visit her sister, Anne, and her husband and family.
She married Anthony Goulart of California in 1969, who predeceased her.
She is survived by her sister, Ellen Chervenak, of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by her loving parents; two sisters, Mary and husband August Ferland of Madison, and Anne Kane and husband James of California; three brothers, George, John and wife Muriel, Michael and wife Pauline, all of Madison.
