PORTLAND – Brian Andrew Young, 45, of St. Joseph’s Manor in Portland, died on Sunday, Oct. 12, following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 1, 1963, the son of William and Constance (Lecomte) Young. He grew up in Auburn and attended school at Sherwood Heights when his health allowed it.

At the age of four, he was chosen the State of Maine, “March of Dimes” child. He loved people and enjoyed tremendously conversing with them. He was also a great advice giver. After spending time with him, people came away feeling happy and hopeful. He was always very positive and never complained. He loved receiving boxes of chocolate so he could hand them unopened to the nurses to enjoy.

He is survived by his father, William Young and his stepmother, Claire (Fortin) Young, of Auburn; his lifelong friend, Larry Laroche; his favorite cousin, Claire Johnston of York; his aunts and uncles, Jeannine and Neil Martin of New Hampshire and Kay and Russell Riggs of Winthrop; and he also leaves many cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Constance in 1973, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lecomte and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Young.

A sincere thank you and appreciation to St. Joseph’s Manor and its staff for the good care Brian received there for 24 years.
