JAY – The Maine Paper and Heritage Museum autumn dinner was reported successful and well attended at LaFleur’s Restaurant on Oct. 11.
The event room was decorated in an autumn theme and a special menu prepared by Bob Lafleur was printed on orange paper to add to the liveliness of the evening. A social hour was held prior to the meal.
Claire Laverdiere-Michaud, event organizer, welcomed everyone and introduced Sherry Judd, museum president, Susan Sandler, school liaison, and Darryl Brown, member-at-large and benefactor.
Judd presented the museum board members an engraved plaque with photo dedicated to their efforts. It will be displayed in the museum.
The Native Oak band, comprised of Paul Soucie, Bill Colwell and Randy Gauvin, provided music.
Several door prizes were won by the guests. Prizes donated included two $150 lift tickets to Sugarloaf, discount coupons for oil, dinner for two, gift certificates and a pedicure. The 50/50 drawing was won by Anne Winter, who donated her winnings to the museum.
Roland Poirier explained a project that is under way to create a walkway/patio area in front of the museum with engraved pavers. They will be sold as commemorative stones and are available now.
Poirier presented the first stone to Judd. It is engraved with her name and the phrase “for never giving up.” Those interested in purchasing an engraved paver should contact the credit union or call Judd at 897-3117 or Laverdiere-Michaud at 897-3514.
