The wind was blowing, but on September 22nd that was a good thing. For those who didn’t know, September 22nd was National Peace Day. On that day, around five hundred pinwheels bloomed on Lewiston Middle School’s front lawn, and they were spinning. Each pinwheel had sayings of peace written on them and represented a student who cared.
The preparations for Peace Day started the week before when students started creating pinwheels in their Art, English, and even French classes. Every pinwheel that was planted in the front lawn, was unique and unlike any other, like their creator. Some had polka dots, some were yellow, and some were green. They were all different. They were all beautiful. In the end, the 500 pinwheels on the lawn, reflected Lewiston Middle School, its teachers, and students, and they showed that we care about peace.
