The cities of Lewiston and Auburn will dedicate the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge on Friday, starting with an invitation-only ceremony at the Franco-American Heritage Center at 9:30 a.m.

Dr. Bernard Lown, a 1938 graduate of Lewiston High School, now a resident of Massachusetts, will attend the event. A world-renowned cardiologist and peace activist, Lown was the recipient of the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize.

10:15 a.m.: Bridge dedication ceremony at the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge (formerly South Bridge), including the unveiling of monuments on either side of the bridge.

10:45 a.m.: Public reception with Lown and his family at the Heritage Hall, Franco-American Heritage Center.

Times are approximate. The public is invited to attend.
